Hong Kong has no natural resources, except one of the finest deep-water ports in the world. A hardworking, adaptable and well-educated workforce of about 3.58 million, coupled with entrepreneurial flair, is the bedrock of Hong Kong's productivity and creativity.
Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China on July 1, 1997, after a century and a half of British administration। Under Hong Kong's constitutional document, the Basic Law, the existing economic, legal and social systems will be maintained for 50 years। The SAR enjoys a high degree of autonomy except in defence and foreign affairs.
The Hotels in Hong Kong Island has a collection of highly acclaimed restaurants. They include the gourmet French restaurant Gaddi's, which has one of the first Chef's Tables in Hong Kong, and the Philippe Starck-designed Felix. Other notable restaurants include Spring Moon and Chesa, which specialize in Cantonese and Swiss cuisine respectively.

In terms of the districts of Hong Kong, while one of the 18 districts is called the Islands District, many islands of Hong Kong are actually not part of that district, which only consists of some twenty large and small islands in the southern and the south-western waters of Hong Kong. These islands belong to respective districts depending on their locations.
